PEORIA (March 31, 2022) – Councilmember Vicki Hunt filed her petitions and nominating papers today for her final bid for the Peoria City Council. The 16-year councilmember filed 240 signatures in support of her nomination – more than enough to qualify for the ballot.
Vicki Hunt explained, “It has been my honor to work with the people of the Acacia District to build a stronger community – together. As your Councilmember, I will continue to increase number of police officers to improve public safety; carry on attracting new businesses and support existing businesses in Old Town; champion quality construction of residential and commercial building in Acacia; and improve our local amenities including bringing shade structures to the lake at Pioneer Park.”
During her time on council, Vicki Hunt has worked hard to revitalize Old Town and improve public safety. We have also made great strides in building a unique Arts District and enhancing local neighborhoods. She has racked up an impressive list of endorsements that includes Mayor Carlat, Vice Mayor Bill Patena, Councilmember Bridget Binsbacher, Councilmember Mike Finn, the Professional Fire Fighters of Arizona (PFFA) and United Phoenix Fire Fighters Association (UPFFA), community leaders, business owners, and long-time residents.
Mayor Carlat stated, “Peoria is consistently at the top of the list when it comes to important quality of life metrics because we have an experienced City Council that works well together. Councilmember Vicki Hunt is a cornerstone of our community – fighting hard for public safety, supporting fiscal responsibility, and facilitating a thriving and vibrant Old Town Peoria. She is a voice for small business and a champion of the arts. Vicki has a passion for her district and its many unique neighborhoods. We can count on her to be a voice for all of Peoria and support its long-term economic success. It is my pleasure to support Vicki Hunt in her bid or re-election."
“Vicki’s passion and leadership are contagious. And it’s not all about her; she constantly recruits others to get involved and heaps praise where deserved. She encourages others to get involved in making the community a better place,” explained Connie Whitlock WHAM Executive Director, “I consider Council Member Hunt a true leader who wants only the best for today and in the future for her Peoria residents. I encourage you to vote for her. We don’t want to lose this abundance of experience and passion in our city.”
“As a native of Old Town and a long-time champion for its revitalization, I have actively worked with Vicki Hunt on a variety of projects for many years. In fact, we worked closely together to support Old Town well before Vicki even was elected to the Peoria City Council. We can count on her to strengthen our neighborhoods and continue to bring new life to our community. She honors our past through efforts such as helping place Peoria High School’s Old Main and Peoria Jailhouse on the National Register of Historic Places. She also embraces our future through supporting local businesses and leading efforts to demolish unsightly buildings. Vicki Hunt is the best choice to support Old Town,” said Alicia Rodriguez, Old Town Native and Long-time Resident.
Councilmember Hunt concluded, “Together, we have accomplished a lot, but there is more to be done. Now that I have qualified for the ballot, I would be honored to have your vote.”
